Waived Calhoun 2022 graduation fee, ceremony moves to new location

And since Alabama weather is notoriously unpredictable in May, the graduation is moving to a new location to ensure as many people as possible can attend.

“This year, I have asked the Calhoun Graduation Committee and administrative team to work with me to help remove any barriers that would prevent our students from having family and friends present as they go through graduation stage, and we did it. . Calhoun is thrilled to announce that for the first time in college history, graduation will be held in the arena at the Von Braun Center (VBC ) in Huntsville.

School officials hope these two decisions will not only lead to more graduates attending the ceremony… but also record attendance from family and friends. With the Von Braun Center seating 6,000, there will be plenty of room compared to the Kelley Gymanisum in Calhoun, the former rain location.

With only 2,500 seats in the Kelley Gymnasium, a limited number of tickets were issued to each graduate in the event of rain, with a designated overflow area set up for those who did not have tickets to attend the ceremonies virtually. graduation ceremony.

The 2022 graduation will take place at 6 p.m. on May 12 in the VBC Propst Arena. As of Monday, the speaker had yet to be announced. Further updates will be posted on the College’s graduation website.
