The dollars officially waive Rodions Kurucs

the Roe deer have formally requested exemptions on Rodions Kurucs, the team announced today (via Twitter).

The move had been anticipated, as Milwaukee needed to release a player in order to make room on the 15-player roster for Elijah bryant. The club have yet to officially announce Bryant’s deal, but it should happen soon.

Kurucs, who was the 40th overall pick in the 2018 Draft, spent more than two seasons with Brooklyn before being distributed to Houston in the James harden blockbuster earlier this year. The 23-year-old was then returned to the Bucks with PJ Tucker.

Kurucs showed promise as a rookie in 2018/19, averaging 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 63 games (20.5 MPG) for Brooklyn. However, he saw his role reduced in his second season as he dealt with legal issues arising from an assault allegation, and he barely performed in 2020/21.

In 21 games for three teams this season, the Latvian striker has put together 1.5 PPG and 1.1 RPG in 6.0 minutes per game. He resolved his legal situation in March by To plead guilty disorderly conduct.

Assuming it goes unclaimed, Kurucs will officially authorize the waivers on Friday. He could theoretically be signed by a new NBA team before the regular season ends Sunday, but he wouldn’t be eligible for the playoffs.
