Public Notice: Child Nutrition Program Waiver Requests

The Rhode Island Department of Education plans to submit requests for waivers of certain time limits related to the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) for the school year 22-23. Specifically, RIDE is requesting flexibility for SFAs to use additional data sets beyond the April 1 Percentage of Identified Students (ISP), including all ISP data from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. extension of the ISP deadline will also require an extension of the CEP-related notification, reporting, and school election requirements, which RIDE includes in its waiver request.

If granted, these waivers will allow RIDE to better support schools/districts in their efforts to provide continued access to food for children and youth in communities across the state, despite the COVID-19 health crisis. .
