GA Dept of Ag: exemption granted for the use of winter gasoline
To help minimize the disruption to gasoline supply to Georgia terminals caused by the recent shutdown of colonial pipelines due to a ransomware attack, the Georgia Department of Agriculture is exercising discretion to allow commercial sale of mixed fuel fall / winter.
“This action will help provide a steady supply to better meet the needs of our Georgian drivers,” said Gary W. Black, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner. “We urge consumers to maintain consistent fuel consumption levels and travel schedules, and resist panic buying that could result in further disruption of fuel supplies. We anticipate that all of these combined efforts will result in a swift restoration of normal operations and supply. “
Federal regulations require different fuel mixtures depending on the season to reduce the impact of exhaust gases on the environment. All mixtures are safe for all vehicles and will not affect performance or damage vehicle mechanics.
The emergency rule takes effect immediately and will remain in effect until May 31, 2021.
