Court clerks waive ticket surcharge for Jacksonville drivers

People with overdue traffic tickets or criminal charges will soon have the green light to help them pay.

As part of Florida’s Operation Green Light, court clerks in several counties are offering a program in the coming weeks that allows offenders to pay their full costs while waiving the 30% collection surcharge.

The Duval County Clerk has participated in the statewide program for the past four years. This time it will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Duval County Courthouse at 501 W. Adams St. and the Clerk’s Beaches Branch at 1543 Atlantic Blvd. Extended evening hours will be available until 7 p.m. on Thursdays at the courthouse only.

Operation Green Light is sponsored by Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers, saying the program helps offenders become eligible for driver’s license reinstatement.

FYI – only the recovery surcharge is being waived as part of Operation Green Light, and only Duval County criminal citations and fines can be paid through this clerk’s office. By Florida law, late fees cannot be waived. Payment can be made online by visiting epay.duvalclerk.com. And for the collection fee to be waived, payment must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday.
