City of Columbus to waive landfill dumping fees until end of September
COLUMBUS, Georgia (WRBL) – From Friday August 6, 2021 through Thursday September 30, 2021, the City of Columbus will waive unloading charges for particular items, according to a press release.
Exempt charges apply to garden waste, green bulk and miscellaneous items. bulk waste for residential customers only.
Bulk yard waste and green debris should be disposed of at Pine Grove Landfill, 7900 Pine Grove Way, or Granite Bluff Landfill, 7589 River Road.
Those who wish to use these services should keep in mind the following criteria;
- grass clippings
- shrub clippings
- Tree pruning at Pine Grove landfill only
- limbs cannot exceed 6 ″ in diameter
- limbs cannot exceed 4 ′ long
- The paying tree is not included in this waiver
- Various bulk waste can only be disposed of at the Pine Grove landfill
Pine Grove landfill hours of operation are Saturdays August 7, 14, 21, 28 and September 11, 18 and 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All normal landfill hours will be in effect.
All Columbus residents will be required to present personal identification verifying their city address in order to use this provided service.
Every inhabitant was also asked to take waste reduction measures where possible.
