Century Casinos and Hotels / WMCK Venture Corp has obtained Cripple Creek Historical Preservation Committee approval of a Certificate of Suitability for the construction of three quadruple residential buildings.

At a special September 10 meeting of Cripple Creek City Council, company representative John Vasilakis requested the same certificate from City Council. This matter was originally part of the regular council agenda for September 1, but deliberation was postponed until the historic preservation committee had time to make a decision.

Council asked staff to draft a resolution and present the request to them on September 15.

The 12-unit project will consist of three modular two-story buildings that will be located on Masonic Avenue on a property owned by the casino. Each building will consist of two three-bedroom units of 1,246 square feet and two two-bedroom units of 1,009 square feet.

Even without the council’s certificate of suitability, however, the project obtained a 100% waiver of the water tap fee for 12 taps as part of the city’s housing development incentive program. The water intake fees for this project would have cost the proponent $ 72,000.

WMCK submitted taping fee waiver requests, which the Board approved, for two taps and three taps amounting to $ 18,000 and $ 12,000, respectively.

Councilor Missy Trenary asked how long council would approve 100% waivers.

“I’m just playing Devil’s Advocate here,” she said. “I want to see housing development as much as anyone, but is it worth the cost? “

Mayor Milford Ashworth said he has lived in the area for over 20 years and there have only been a few houses built.

“We don’t sell faucets anyway,” he said.

“We have a great need for these apartments,” said Pro Mayor Tem Tom Litherland. “We need to.”

In the end, Trenary agreed, and all waivers were unanimously approved on the condition that all city material costs were reimbursed.

The Council also approved an amended intergovernmental agreement between the City and County of Teller for the 2021 coordinated elections on November 2. The previous agreement mentioned former city clerk Janell Sciacca as the city’s designated election official. With Sciacca’s departure for Fairplay, the board appointed Cripple Creek Acting Clerk Malissa Gish in her place.

1. Ian Happ | FROM | Chicago Cubs

It pains me to say that, but Ian Happ hit the ball pretty well. It’s frustrating, considering how often it switches to a hot streak, gets included in “to add” posts, and then turns freezing after a week or so. That being said, we’re running out of time for the 2021 season and Happ is currently in the middle of a nice hot little streak. At this point, we take the production wherever we can get it. In August, Happ hit 0.255 with an OPS of 0.856, despite having a 38 to 8 strike-at-bat ratio. Strikes have always been a problem for Happ, but he also normally walks a fair amount. In September, however, Happ was even better. In 35 plate appearances, Happ reached 0.429 with an OPS of 1.257. In that streak, he has six runs, four homers, eight RBIs and an 8-0 strike-at-bat ratio. The recent power surge has made some fantasy owners incredibly happy. In fact, dating back to August 25, in his last 57 home plate appearances, Happ has made seven home runs. He might calm down before the end of the season, but he’s hitting the ball too well right now not to pick it up.

2. Frank Schwindel | 1B | Chicago Cubs

Schwindel made the list a few weeks ago and here we are again recommending you add it for the latter part of the season. Whatever he’s done for himself in Chicago, it seems to be working. In 141 home plate appearances for the Cubs, Schwindel has his .354 with a 1,066 OPS. It’s been well over a month of sustaining an OPS of over 1,000 players almost every day. It is remarkably impressive. He hasn’t really slowed down either, as his numbers look even better in his last 40 or so home plate appearances. Going back to when he joined the Cubs on July 30, Schwindel is in the top 15 in majors in home runs, top 10 in RBIs and fourth in OPS. I’m not saying you should put Vlad in his favor, but take a close look at who you’re starting at first base right now and ask yourself if Frank Schwindel is overproducing them. Chances are it is.

3. Jeimer Candelario | 1B, 3B | Detroit Tigers

At 27, Candelario is quietly preparing another solid year for the Tigers. Overall, he’s down 0.276 / 0.353 /. 440 with 68 runs, 39 doubles, 12 homers, 56 RBIs and a 121-57 strikeout / walk ratio. Quite frankly, the only reason he’s not a 90% owned player is the lack of home runs. Other than that, Candelario has been pretty solid. Even some of its peripheral metrics also look good. He’s closer to the league average in terms of how hard he hits the ball, but his expected stats are all well above average. He is close to the league average in K% terms and is above average when it comes to his ability to walk around. Overall, it’s clear that Candelario is a quality hitter in the major leagues. If you can live without the home runs, line up Candelario and get consistent production over the long haul.

4. Jonathan Villar | 2B, 3B, SS | New York food

Much like Candelario, while Villar may not be flashy, he currently delivers consistent production to the plate. Much like Candelario, he does so with eligibility for multiple positions. As of August 1, Villar has reduced .311 / .378 / .533 with 18 points, seven homers, 17 RBIs and a 31 to 12 strike-at-bat ratio. Again, look at who you start at at 2B, 3B, and SS, and ask yourself if you’re getting that much production. That’s more circuits and RBIs than Ty France, Luis Urias, Dansby Swanson, Jake Cronenworth and Jean Segura. With eligibility for multiple positions, Villar is the perfect complement at the end of your roster for the final weeks of the season, especially in points leagues when you just need everyday players in your roster.

5. Jo Adell | FROM | Los Angeles Angels

Adell has come a long way since his disappointing MLB debut in the 2020 season. Since his 2021 debut on August 3, Adell has slashed 0.250 / .302 / .408 with 15 points, four homers, 26 RBIs and a ratio. from 30 to 8 catches at bat. As has always been the case with Adell, strikeouts are always a concern. As crazy as it sounds, 30 strikeouts in 130 home plate appearances are actually a little encouraging for Adell. The RBI, however, has so far been his money ticket for fantasy relevance. His 26 RBIs since August 3 are among the best in the league. Perhaps most encouraging for Adell is her recent improvement. Going back to August 24, Adell slashed 0.320 / 0.370 / 0.560 with eight runs, three homers, 14 RBIs, stolen base and a 9-4 strikeout / walk ratio on that stretch. Considering her potential pedigree, any birth sign warrants adding her to your list. Of all the free agents probably available to you on the waiver thread, Adell offers perhaps the biggest advantage.

The Eagles need help at the cornerback and according to Jeremy Fowler the team had hoped to add Jimmy Moreland without having to guarantee his contract.

By waiting for the end of Week 1 to add Moreland, Philadelphia would have avoided having to pay his full salary. Now the slot machine’s cornerback will be heading to Houston after years in Washington.

The Eagles also signed cornerback Mac McCain from the Broncos practice team on Tuesday.

When a team has drafted nine players, it will be difficult to find a place for each of them on the list of 53 players.

Is this a sad reality? Sure. You never want to make a player’s dream come true, have them move all of their stuff to a new city, then reward them with a one-way ticket to the waivers thread, but unfortunately it happens every season, and for some teams this happens several times a year; just ask the Tennessee Titans, who gave up three of their draft picks this season.

Historically speaking, the Philadelphia Eagles have been good enough to keep their local draft picks on the active roster for their rookie season, averaging about one player released per season since Howie Roseman returned to power in 2016, but for the Most of the team kept said players on the practice squad and raised them on the active roster when the opportunity presented itself.

Welp, let’s hope it happens again in 2021, as the Philadelphia Eagles just submitted another of their draft picks to the waiver wire in former sixth-round pick JaCoby Stevens.

Fingers crossed, the Philadelphia Eagles can recruit Stevens to their practice squad.

JaCoby Stevens’ first summer in South Philly hasn’t been particularly good for more than one reason.

Despite playing it safe at LSU, Stevens was drafted for the express purpose of linebacking, joining a Philadelphia Eagles linebacker corps absolutely filled with seasoned veterans and promising young prospects.

Had Stevens been allowed to fully test his mettle against Shaun Bradley, Patrick Johnson, and Davion Taylor, he might have turned out to be a better cover specialist than another former college security the Eagles employed from 2017-2020. but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be. Stevens suffered a hamstring injury deemed week-to-week in early August, which deprived him of valuable training reps and a DNP for the first two preseason games of the ‘summer.

While Stevens finally made his preseason debut against the New York Jets in the final game of the summer, his 34 shots were pretty forgettable and clearly didn’t generate enough hype to secure him a spot on the initial roster of 53 players.

If Stevens had stayed in his college job things might have been different, but with seven players already stranded on the Eagles’ depths board, there simply wasn’t room for another prospect to this post, especially one that would literally never be active on game days.

Assuming Stevens goes on waivers, he will surely stay in South Philly with the Eagles this fall, where he can continue to learn the ins and outs of linebacker play while staying out of the active roster.

Worst case scenario, he’s claimed by another team and continues his career elsewhere under his four-year, $ 3.6 million contract; Either way, Stevens’ career in the NFL is far from over.

With no true coverage specialist in the linebacker corps, the Philadelphia Eagles’ decision to draft JaCoby Stevens and send him inside the weak-side linebacker made sense. Cover linebackers are worth their weight in gold in today’s NFL, and to land one in the sixth round would be incredible value. While Stevens may not be that player right now and could eventually find himself claimed by another team over the next few days, if he goes through the waivers with his fingers closed he stays in the game a bit longer. city of brotherly love, as it comes from scratching the surface of its potential linebacker.

The majority of private health insurance companies have stopped waiving patient fees associated with COVID-19 treatment, as most had done since the early days of the pandemic, according to a new study.

According to an analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), 72% of US insurers who previously waived cost-sharing or fully covered treatment costs have stopped doing so and an additional 10% will phase out such waivers by the end of October. .

In a previous study carried out at the start of the pandemic, KFF found that 88% of fully insured COVID-19 patients would have had all of their hospital charges waived by their insurer. The group noted that insurance companies made higher profits during times of foreclosure and uncertainty as many people suspended examinations and elective procedures.

DOES GETTING THE COVID-19 VACCINE AFFECT YOUR LIFE INSURANCE POLICY?

But since vaccines became widely available in the United States and Americans started returning to doctors, insurers have gradually started removing waivers.

The cost of treating a person hospitalized with COVID-19 can reach tens of thousands of dollars or more. Michigan’s Blue Cross Blue Shield told WXYZ-TV that since the start of the pandemic, the company has paid out $ 750 million and about 250,000 of its members have paid nothing out of pocket for treatments.

“No charge,” said BCBSM Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Dr James Grant. “If you were on a ventilator you could have been there a month, two months, three months, it’s expensive. Sometimes seven-figure care. We waived all charges.”

CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT FOX BUSINESS

The BCBSM will no longer waive the costs of COVID-19 treatment as of October 1, but vaccinations will continue to be free for members, as this is seen as a major preventative measure to keep patients alive and reduce costs. A study published by the CDC found that unvaccinated coronavirus patients were 29 times more likely to be hospitalized than vaccinated people who caught breakthrough infections.

“95, 96, 97 percent of those who are in the hospital are the ones who are not vaccinated,” Grant continued. “So if we can really reach out to the unvaccinated, make them understand the importance and safety of the vaccine, that’s how we’re going to beat it.”

Meanwhile, not all insurers have withdrawn support for coronavirus treatments.

“Regarding COVID-19 treatment, for the 2021 plan year, Humana will cover the reimbursable costs of COVID-19 treatment for all members of the Humana Medicare Advantage medical plan,” Human Mark spokesperson said. Mathis to FOX Business, explaining: “COVID- Treatment 19 is a benefit that is part of Humana’s Medicare Advantage 2021 plans; it is not a ‘waiver of costs’.”

Mathis went on to note, “There are differences for other lines of business.”

8/24 Batting Streamers – Shallow Leagues

Jazz Chisholm (2B / SS, LHB, MIA) 49.6% enrolled

Match: vs. WAS RHP Erick Fedde

Chisholm was in my article all weekend against the Reds. If you jumped on Friday, he gave you a homerun, three runs scored, four runs batted in and two steals in the three-game series. He doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon and is going for a Marlins offense that isn’t as bad as most think. There are still some counting stats hidden in this pickup, especially against struggling Nationals pitching staff.

Kolten Wong (2B, LHB, MIL) 45.7% enrolled

Match: vs. CIN RHP Tyler Mahle

Here we have another hot hitter leaving for a solid lineup. Wong reached 0.429 last week with a homerun, five runs scored, seven runs batted in and one steal. He’s contributing across all categories right now at a notoriously weak position.

Myles Straw (OF, RHB, CLE) 42.6% enrolled

Match: vs. TEX LHP Taylor Hearn

Straw does not offer much power. However, Straw leads against lefties and hits .333 with three RBIs, eight RBIs and a pair of interceptions in the past ten days. If you’re late for flights, Straw is an elite pickup.

Ian Happ (OF, LHB, CHC) 35.1% enrolled

Match: v COL RHP German Marquez

I don’t often chase after a launcher like Marquez, but when I do, it’s with a guy on an epic radiator like Happ. Happ hits a record 0.474 with two home runs, three RBIs and four runs scored last week. If his teammates struggled so badly, Happ could have ten RBIs in the week. That’s how good he is hitting right now. If anyone happens to Marquez, it will most likely be Happ and probably no one else.

Streamers Hitter for 08/24 – Leagues Deeper

Frank Schwindel (1B, RHB, CHC) 22.4% enrolled

Match: v COL RHP German Marquez

Since replacing Anthony Rizzo full-time on August 1, Schwindel has reached 0.393 with four homers, 11 runs scored and 15 RBIs. He’s seen his hitting streak end against the Royals, but Schwindel still has hits in each of the last two games and has three of those homers and 12 from the RBI in the last ten games. The count stats suffer from the struggling offense around him, but Schwindel hits just well enough to take on a good pitcher like Marquez.

Nicky Lopez (2B / SS, LHB, KC) 21% enrolled

Match: at HOU RHP Luis Garcia

Lopez has been a beacon in a squad full of average players at best lately. He’s hitting .407 with a homerun, five RBIs, six runs scored and eight goals stolen in the last ten days alone! I know I said straw in an elite pickup for flights, but Lopez is just as good, if not better because of the scarcity of positions. Lopez has slipped three sacks in the last three games. He can earn you flights by himself right now!

Daulton Varsho (C / OF, LHB, ARI) 15.1% enrolled

Match: at PIT RHP JT Brubaker

Varsho is 6-for-12 with three home runs, four runs scored and six RBIs in just the last three games. It will start against all the right-handed down the home stretch and is an elite game for power against all that pitching staff. Lock and load!

Jake Meyers (OF, RHB, HOU) 10.3% enrolled

Match: vs. KC RHP Brady Singer

Meyers has three homers and 10 RBIs in the Astros’ last ten games while posting an average of .338. He has admirably replaced Kyle Tucker. Roll it over there as long as it keeps starting. Meyers showed good power early in his big league career.

Streamers Pitcher for 08/24 – Shallow Leagues

Dylan Bundy (RHP, LAA) 35.7% enrolled

Match: in Baltimore

This is almost entirely matchup based. My fingers threw up a bit on the keyboard as I typed this. Bundy has only managed to allow 12 hits in 19.1 innings since returning to the rotation on July 29. The bad news is that the stairs still get him in trouble sometimes. Still, Bundy allowed a respectable eight runs in those four starts and tallied 14 strikeouts. Again, those are pedestrian numbers, but the Orioles are one of the worst offenses in the league and have been for much of the season. If Bundy is worth taking a chance, it’s here.

Streamers Pitcher for 08/24 – Deeper Leagues

Griffin Jax (RHP, MIN) 9.2% enrolled

Match: in Boston

You have to have stones to lead Jax, but do you want a guy who is at least as likely to win? Ranger Suarez, Taylor Hearn and Drew Rasmussen all have good numbers over the past month, but they’ve only played five innings once to start. combined between them three. Jax has erased five innings in each of his last four starts while allowing just seven runs in 22.1 innings. The 15 strikeouts are solid, but ten of them were against the White Sox. Jax has been doing a good job of limiting the damage lately, and I’m pursuing the gains on ratios at the start of the week.

The Eagles have given up on cornerback Lavert Hill according to the league thread, as the former Michigan cornerback also joins Jhamon Ausbon on waiver.

Hill signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent time on their practice squad before joining the Eagles last December.

With only a full week left in August and the month of September putting an end to the fantasy baseball leagues throughout the season, it’s definitely time to make the final adjustments to your roster. Teams continue to push for playoff positioning while others give end-of-season auditions to young players in their system. As you focus on ending your fantastic season, there are some solid options for you to consider on most leagues’ waiver wire. Some of the pickups available are short term one week options while others are longer term pickups that can help you throughout the season.

The coming week is a bit lighter overall with just five of the 30 MLB teams scheduled to play seven games. Most teams play six times with five other teams scheduled for just five games with a pair of days off. With a hurricane mixing things up this weekend, there could be potential make-ups as well, so keep an eye out for those changes as you gauge the number of matches and upcoming clashes while purchasing the waiver thread. Check out two hitters and two pitchers I’m targeting highlighted below. There are also specialty options listed at the bottom of the article.

2B / SS / OF Josh Rojas, Arizona Diamondbacks (at PIT, PHI)

The Diamondbacks are one of the few teams with seven games on the calendar and have favorable clashes against the Pirates and Phillies. While the team have been one of the worst in baseball, there were a few bright spots, including the emergence of the Rojas as a very reliable option at the top of the roster. The 27-year-old southpaw leads normally against right-handed starters and hits lower in the lineup against lefties. In his 11 games since returning from the injured list due to a dislocated left little finger, he has gone 17 for 37 (0.459) with five homers, four doubles and a triple. It has a hard hit rate of 38.5% over that time frame to go with an impressive wOBA of 0.508 and 219 wRC +.

Rojas’ recent success since his return continued his breakout season in which he played 104 games and reached .288 with 11 homers, seven goals stolen and a wOBA of .362. It doesn’t bring in elite power output, but pulls a lot of volume from its top spot. If you need help in the middle of the infold or a solid outfield bat, his versatility and multi-category potential make him the best pickup of the week.

BY Tyler Naquin, Cincinnati Reds (at MIL, MIA)

Naquin started his first season in Cincinnati, but struggled through the summer. No other outfielder stepped in or Naquin could even have lost his job, but instead he got the chance to regain his rhythm, which he certainly did in his 17 games in August. So far this month, he’s grown to 22 for 56 (0.393) with half of those hits for extra goals, including three homers. It has an ISO .321 and .493 wOBA as well as a 208 wRC + over this period.

Recently, the Reds placed Naquin second in their batting order, which could set him up for even more production opportunities. Like Rojas, he’s a southpaw so he can wrestle or sit against lefties, but he’s been hitting the ball so well lately he’s still a great pickup, especially with just two lefties expected at the schedule this week.

SP Josiah Gray, Washington Nationals, (at MIA, in NYM)

Gray appears to be lined up for two starts this coming week in a pair of big Divisional clashes against the Marlins and Mets. Gray was one of the main upcoming Washington prospects in the trade that sent Max Scherzer and Trea Turner to the Dodgers, so there’s certainly plenty of prospect pedigree in the 23-year-old right-hander. Gray jumped straight into the rotation for the Nationals and has been solid all four starts. He has a 2.86 ERA but 6.13 FIP in his 22 innings with the Nats, so there could be a small regression in points allowed over the coming week, but his potential for a strikeout balances that out as he has whipped up a total of 20 batters in his three most recent outings.

Gray has been a bit hometown prone, but he’s also faced some strong lineups among the Blue Jays and Braves. With easier clashes this week and all those strikeouts, Gray is a solid two-start option this week.

SP Tylor Megill, New York Mets (vs. SF, vs. WAS)

Megill is another two-start game to consider for the week ahead and is set to face Gray next Sunday. The 26-year-old Mets rookie right-hander doesn’t come with the fanfare Gray had, but he’s been a solid overall addition to the Mets rotation. He struggled a bit in early August, but seemed to find his place in his last outing, allowing just one run in six innings against the Giants on Wednesday. He will face San Francisco for a second straight start and will look to continue on the path to success, then secure the Nationals’ slim lineup in his second start of the week.

In her 11 starts, Megill got only one win, but produced a strong ERA of 3.21 and 4.00 FIP. He’s 60 strikeouts in 56 innings for a 9.64 K / 9 rate and has played at least five innings in six of his most recent seven starts. Even though the wins have yet to be there, Megill brings good numbers of strikeouts to both her starts this week and is a slightly more proven option than Gray, although Gray gets a better first game before facing each other. .

Middle Georgia State University is one of 31 participating colleges in Georgia.

MACON, Georgia – It’s never too late to pursue your dreams of graduate school in Georgia.

Residents 62 and over are offered free tuition if they choose to return to school. Middle Georgia State University is one of 31 participating colleges in Georgia.

Middle Georgia State assistant vice president of enrollment management Melinda Robinson-Moffett said residents of Georgia aged 62 and older can take advantage of the tuition waiver.

“This tuition waiver allows them to get undergraduate or graduate courses without paying a tuition fee,” Moffett said.

“It’s similar in some ways because I really never had that campus experience of going to school and joining a sorority or even having that experience of college life. I worked. from the day I graduated from high school, ”said student Michele Barber.

A high school counselor told Barber it was not college material.

Now she has obtained a Bachelor of Science degree and continued her studies in elementary education.

“I love to learn. One of the things my dad always said is that I’m a professional student,” she said.

Barber went back to school to get recertified to be a 7th grade teacher. This will be his fifth year at university.

“I’m very excited about it. This time it was more meaningful. I think the older you get and of course you appreciate the things that you didn’t take seriously when you were younger,” he said. she declared.

Barber says there’s always time to learn if you want to.

“Go back to school. Do it. It doesn’t matter how old you are. Age was an excuse.” Baber said. “‘I am too old.’ I am not too old. You are never too old, and if you are not in the ground you can still learn. If you have a heart, a passion and the desire to do something, do it Said Barber.

Students must meet all admission requirements of the Georgia university system and undergraduate or graduate institutions.
