The Arizona Coyotes placed goaltender Carter Hutton on waivers Sunday afternoon, according to PHNX Sports Craig Morgan.
Hutton, 36, hasn’t played for the Coyotes since October after suffering a lower-body injury. He has played three games with Arizona this season, where he is 0-2.
The veteran goaltender signed a one-year contract with the Coyotes in the offseason and started the season as a starter between the two posts. In his three games before the injury, Hutton allowed 15 goals on 58 shots faced.
If no other NHL team calls for Hutton’s services, he will head to the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners.
In Tucson, Hutton would join goaltender Ivan Prosvetov, the Coyotes’ top goalie prospect.
At the NHL level, Karel Vejmelka and Scott Wedgewood will continue to hold the net for the Coyotes.
Due to Hutton’s injury, rookie Vejmelka received the bulk of the game in net, making 29 starts for the Coyotes.
